Royal baby named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have named their baby Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
Their daughter’s full title will be “Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge” and the newest addition to the British royal family will sit 4th in line to the throne.
Charlotte is the female equivalent of the Princess’s paternal grandfather Prince Charles and also the middle name of her aunt, Pippa Middleton.

Previous royal Charlottes include the wife of King George III, pictured left(although born Sophie, she took the title Queen Charlotte), and also the daughter of that marriage, the then Princess Royal.

Charlotte was the name of the daughter of KIng George IV and his consort, Caroline of Brunswick. Unfortunately this Charlotte predeceased her father and therefore didn’t become queen.

William and Kate have chosen family middle names of Elizabeth and Diana for their daughter. Elizabeth is Kate’s mddle name and of course the name of The Queen, the Duke’s grandmother. Diana was the name of William’s late mother, the Princess of Wales.
