Princess Madeleine and Mr. Christopher O‘Neill are delighted to announce that The Princess is expecting their first child.
The birth is expected to take place in beginning of March of 2014.

Madeleine is the youngest daughter of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, and is fourth in line to the Swedish throne. She and New York based banker Christopher O’Neill were married in the Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace in Stockholm in June this year. The ‘Childhood’ referred to in the Palace statement is the World Childhood Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded by Madeleine’s mother.
Sweden has a constitutional monarchy in which the royals primarily serve as figureheads. King Carl XVI Gustaf is the country’s head of state, and has a number of constitutional duties. The news of the royal pregnancy comes amid celebrations marking 40 years since (the then) Crown Prince Carl Gustaf ascended the throne on the 15th September 1973, at the age of just 27.
